Bald Hill Quarry Liner Construction
Bald Hill Quarry Liner Construction involved installing a new section of compacted clay liner at the Bald Hill Quarry Regional Landfill near Jugiong, NSW. Works were delivered within an active waste‑management precinct, aligning with NSW regulatory requirements and site environmental controls.
The Bald Hill Quarry Liner Construction project delivered a compacted clay liner as part of ongoing landfill cell development and rehabilitation at the Bald Hill Quarry Regional Landfill, located off the Hume Highway near Jugiong, NSW. The works formed a key element of the site’s engineered barrier system to protect groundwater and surface water by minimising leachate migration, supporting Bald Hill’s regional waste strategy and compliance obligations.
Project planning addressed access and staging around existing landfill infrastructure and quarry operations. Activities included subgrade proof‑rolling and preparation, clay sourcing and control, placement in uniform lifts, moisture conditioning and compaction to specified density, quality assurance testing (density/moisture, Atterberg limits, and permeability as required), and construction of tie‑ins to existing liner edges. Works were executed in line with applicable NSW approvals and the site’s environmental management framework established through the Bald Hill landfill approvals and subsequent modifications.
On completion, the liner section was tested to confirm compliance, then handed over for subsequent cell construction activities (leachate collection layer, drainage, and cover sequences as applicable), supporting the site’s long‑term operation as a regional facility
