Helensburgh Bulk Excavation, Detail Excavation & Basement Retention

Construction of a reinforced shotcrete wall between concrete piles at Walker Street to stabilise a sheer excavation and provide structural support for future development. Works included drilling and installation of anchors, bulk excavation, shotcrete application, drainage, and detail excavation under strict engineering and safety standards.

Unicivil delivered the Walker Street Bulk Earthworks project to address site stability and create a secure platform for future construction. The site presented challenges due to steep terrain, hard rock, and limited access, requiring specialised geotechnical and excavation solutions.

Scope included:

  • Bulk and detailed excavation, including rock sawing to achieve design profiles.

  • Load-out and disposal of generated waste to licensed facilities.

  • Drilling and installation of ground anchors to provide lateral restraint.

  • Construction of concrete piles as primary structural elements.

  • Application of reinforced shotcrete facing between piles for slope protection and load transfer.

  • Installation of subsoil drainage behind the wall to manage groundwater.

  • Traffic and pedestrian management throughout the works to maintain safety and access.
